The Bowen Technique
with Chrissie Roberts

The Bowen Technique is a holistic therapy that originates from Australia.  It involves gentle rolling movements over muscle, joints, nerves, and other soft tissue at specific points on the body. These movements initiate an impulse to the brain which results in a healing response. This therapy allows the body to heal itself rather than forcing it into uncomfortable positions.

Applied to Anything!

The holistic nature of the Bowen Technique means that it can be applied to any ailment. Chronic problems may require more than one treatment but, usually, benefits can be felt after just one!

What to expect

A typical treatment lasts about one hour with the first treatment being up to two hours to include a thorough consultation.

The client then lies on the table and the therapist starts work. An important part of the therapy is the small breaks between the sets of moves. This allows the messages to be received by the brain and the body to begin to respond. Bowen therapy can be performed over light clothing.

A treatment will always start by addressing the lower back, upper back and neck. Problem points are then targeted, depending on the client’s ailments.
